It should be easy to go from food service to retail and you would probably enjoy retail alot better. Apply at your local malls and grocery stores - becoming a cashier is an easy transition and would be less stressful than working food service....

A good place to get a start in retail would be in convenience shops, food service counters, non-franchised grocers, boutiques, or kiosks. To be employed by a large franchise, such as Harrod's, you will need to prove yourself before they would take you on....

Unfortunately without any job experience, you HAVE to start out in retail or food service. A lot of employers always hear about how people claim to have good dedication (not saying you don't) but you need to think about it from their view. Unless you have connections, it's more likely to accept a job in retail/food service. At the same time, to help assist yourself in moving up, volunteer at a place where there is opportunity for advancement. Sometimes it's easy to forget the power or volunteer ...
